great bag-hacking ideas

Lee just sent me the link to Ikea Hacker and I've gotta say, one of the best things is the bag hack. Completely functional, seems simple enough, and I already have most items on hand. A sidenote: I'm at my old apartment waiting for the so-called self-cleaning oven to finish cleaning itself. I've never run one before but I'm a little disappointed. It takes three hours. Three. THEN you have to wipe the ash out of it. There's nothing self-sufficient about a self-cleaning oven. It should just be called a super-high-heat oven because that's all it does. It gets really hot. Then it lets someone else clean it. So I'm stuck here with no food for another two hours and twenty five minutes. I am not spending the night on the floor again! I will shower though since I have no idea whether or not the hot water's been restored at my new place. Things have been busy. With the help of my awesome friends I moved into a new neighborhood two weeks ago. Since then I've been working almost non-stop- on the clock and off. Unpacking has been a lower priority until my day off this past Saturday. I had to get new appliances because the fridge wasn't cold and the pilot on my gas range is leaking gas. The fridge has arrived but my new stove's on backorder until the end of the month. Between the daily early morning work being done on my house and appliance delivery I've not had a morning of uninterrupted sleep in awhile and naturally, this is one of the things I value most. It's almost there but it'll have to happen when it happens. Saturday we saw Sassparilla @ tractor. It was a lovely time. They're totally rad. I could write more. I mean, really. I could. I could write about the things I was thinking about someone I have no business thinking things about. Not the person I had vocally gushed about and hung out with. Someone else. But you know, it's better to be friends. Platonic relationships are stronger and fiercer than anything else. We got home rather late so our ambitious daytime Sunday plans were foiled but it still worked out well. I walked to the vegan place down the street from my house and worked one of my new zines. After skating, Rach brought over brownies and ice cream and we went to the DIY women's spa. When we got back we poured Kahlua over the junk food, made some coffee, and made stuff until 5:30 am. At which time we made vegan sausages for breakfast. Best night ever. She made two tube tops and leg warmers. I made a skirt and a few patches. It was light out when I went to bed.
As if my weekend didn't already compensate for missing the pDX train... Monday was also awesome. Dave escorted me to Ikea then we explored my neighborhood and had lunch. I live near Fantagraphics now which is extremely convenient. We went there. We now have plans for art projects that I'm super stoked about. I am looking forward to getting completely settled in and having time and space set aside for community art projects/diy @ my new house. I have a side yard now which will be convenient for the upcoming seed bomb making party...
